Telugu Association of Greater Sacramento (TAGS) is a non-profit organization established in December 2003, to bring together the people of Telugu origin residing in the greater Sacramento area. TAGS is a Greater Sacramento Telugu Association covering Sacramento, Folsom, Rancho Cordova, El Dorado Hills, Roseville, Rocklin, Granite Bay and neighboring cities, and celebrates various Telugu festivals throughout the year, as well as a summer picnic/camping, education seminar for high school students/parents and other special events. TAGS also organizes a health seminar for creating awareness on child obesity and indoor games promoting sports activities for children, and bird painting, and several fundraising events. TAGS encourages participation by members and well-wishers at these events.

Objectives of TAGS:

  • To represent Telugu Culture & Literature in Sacramento, California and in the United States of America.
  • To develop cooperation and harmony within the Telugu community in Sacramento and in the United States.
  • To expose Telugu culture and heritage to the youth of Telugu origin.
  • To build mutual goodwill, understanding, and respect between the general people of North America and Telugu people of India and to contribute to social peace, harmony, and economic growth.
  • To represent, protect, and promote the interests of persons of Telugu origin.
  • To act as an organization to collect and transfer donations, Charities etc. at local, national, and international level for social, cultural, educational, economic, and humanitarian causes.
  • To organize and participate in the regional and national events which promote Telugu culture.
  • To promote friendship and cultural exchange with other similar organizations.
